The fortified small village of Vallerano is dated back to the XI century, with probable roman origins. The church and surrounding lands belonged to the clergy of the Cathedral of Siena until the XIV century. Starting in the 1500’s it had its own rectory, and in 1598 it passed into the hands of the Vicarship from Murlo. By the end of the 1800’s the village was partly abandoned and the church endured a loss and degradation, leading to the more recent deconsecration of the church. When there were more church-goers many ceremonies were held here, one of which was the “Festa del’acqua di primavera,” (the spring water festival), and the festival of the patron Saint on August 7th. Today, after reconstruction, the church of Vallerano has become the splendid Residenza d’Epoca (historical residence) which we offer you to enjoy an unforgettable stay in Tuscany, Siena.
